Chronic kidney disease (CKD) disproportionately affects people from ethnic minority backgrounds1. Ethnic minority groups have increased requirements for renal replacement therapy secondary to kidney failure, owing to faster progression of CKD and reduced mortality before dialysis2. The mortality rate is lower for people from ethnic minorities with established kidney failure after starting dialysis, a phenomenon observed across different countries and registry reports3,4.
