A woman who killed her terminally-ill father has been allowed to walk free from court with a two-year suspended sentence by a judge who told her: “I recognise I have taken a merciful course.”Dr Lisa Davenport, 55, smothered Barrie Davenport, 88, with a pillow at his home in Banbury, Oxfordshire in October 2022. Oxford Crown Court heard Mr Davenport had been suffering from terminal pancreatic cancer and was in a great deal of pain during his final few hours of life.

Two police officers dressed up as the caped crusader and his trusty sidekick Robin to snare rogue street traders on Westminster Bridge. The officers were forced to put on the Batman and Robin costumes after criminals who operate on the bridge began to recognise them. Footage released by police shows the two “undercover” officers donning tight-fitting superhero costumes, complete with masks and capes as they tackled one street trader on the famous bridge.

TV star Mike Berry who appeared in Are You Being Served? has died at the age of 82. The actor and singer, known for hits including Tribute to Buddy Holly and The Sunshine of Your Smile, performed his last show in February. Mike’s manager and friend Peter Stockton shared the news of his death on Friday, saying in a Facebook post that “the legendary Mike Berry died peacefully this morning, his family members by his bedside”.

Police at one of Britain’s biggest forces are being taught they have ‘white privilege’ as part of so-called ‘equity training’. The training, which was introduced last September, covers topics including "white privilege", "micro-aggressions" and the difference between being "non-racist versus anti-racist". The training came just one month after Thames Valley Police had been found by an employment tribunal to have positively discriminated against white officers.

The Moroccan wife of a British businessman who died while on holiday has inherited his entire fortune, friends have said. Allen McKenna died after he collapsed while on holiday in Casablanca in February with Moroccan girlfriend, Majda Mjaoual, 25. According to his girlfriend, the father-of-two suffered a heart attack and she had him buried two days later, but has allegedly not stated where.
