The day commemorates the surrender of Germany to the Allied Forces on 8 May 1945, signalling the beginning of the end of the conflict. The six-stamp set features photographs from the period, including one taken by Manx photographer Leonard McCombe, capturing a London street party scene.

It is the first major scheme in Douglas by a government-owned body, set up to redevelop urban and brownfield areas, and features a mix of 37 one and two-bedroom flats. If approved, the Angel of Ronaldsway statue would be installed in the grounds of the Manx Aviation and Military Museum in Ballasalla. Museum director Ivor Ramsden said the 8ft (2.4m) artwork would pay tribute to the men who gave their lives during World War Two.
