The four-day festival, featuring Shinedown, Linkin Park, Green Day and Korn as headliners, begins Thursday, May 15 and runs until Sunday, May 18. A Sebastian River High School senior drowned in Vero Beach after being caught in a rip current. The incident occurred at Treasure Shores Park, which does not have stationed lifeguards. Rip currents are strong channels of water that can pull swimmers away from shore, but they do not pull people underwater. If caught in a rip current, swim parallel to the shore or towards breaking waves, then at an angle towards the beach.

Volusia County residents can drive and park on county beaches for free with a Volusia County beach pass. Residents can register for a free annual beach pass online or in person at designated ParkVolusia offices. Non-residents must pay daily or annual fees for beach driving and off-beach parking. A separate pass is required for Inlet Parks, for both residents and non-residents. Handicapped parking remains free with proper documentation.
