    A corpse rose is getting ready to bloom at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory in St. Paul. The flower, which emits a pungent odor said to smell like rotting flesh during its short bloom, is named Fredrick and is the sibling corpse flower to Horace, who bloomed last year in May. Fredrick is 71 inches tall as of Wednesday morning, but the rate of growth is slowing, which the conservatory says is one of the key indicators that the bloom will happen soon.

    On Wednesday, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said law enforcement have returned to searching a landfill in Elk River for clues related to missing teen Manny Collins. The sheriff’s office said the landfill search had been paused for a number of days due to wet weather and “unsafe” conditions. Collins, 16, hasn’t been seen since May 8 in Columbia Heights. On May 12 he was reported missing, and on May 19 the sheriff’s office first posted about the case.

    A 19-year-old is dead and his 18-year-old passenger has life-threatening injuries after a crash in Dakota County on Saturday around 11:18 p.m.According to the Minnesota State Patrol crash report, a Jeep Compass and a Honda Accord were both going southbound on Highway 149 and both crossed into the northbound lane of the highway just before the Highway 55 intersection.
