DARIEN, Wis. (WLUK) -- A woman’s late-night Taco Bell craving led to a crash with a sheriff’s squad car in southern Wisconsin. Just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, a Walworth County Sheriff’s Office squad car was rear-ended by a vehicle while traveling north on I-43 near Highway X in the town of Darien. They deputy said he was driving north when he saw a vehicle driving behind him, approaching at a high rate of speed.

Waupun man dies in fog-related crash in Dodge County

LEROY (WLUK) -- Foggy conditions played a role in a fatal Dodge County crash where a 19-year-old Waupun man died. It happened around 6:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of State Highway 49 at Dairy Road in the town of Leroy, about 2.5 miles west of the village of Brownsville. Initial investigation showed that a semi pulling a tanker trailer was traveling north on Dairy Road and crossing State Highway 49 after stopping at the stop sign.
WPS seeks next 'ambassadog' to lead safe digging campaign

(WLUK) -- Wisconsin Public Service is fetching for the next safe digging ‘ambassadog.'After a successful inaugural campaign, WPS is giving customers the chance to have their dog send the safety message: Call 811 at least three days before you dig. WPS is accepting applications for its top dog now through July 10. Take a couple of photos of your dog digging or in their favorite place to dig. Go to wisconsinpublicservice.com to submit the photos before 11:59 p.m. July 10.

FOND DU LAC (WLUK) -- A Milwaukee man suspected of driving drunk the wrong way on a Fond du Lac street was arrested after a pursuit. It all started just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when a Ripon police officer who was handling an unrelated matter, notified Fond du Lac County dispatch of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on S. Macy Street near W. 1st Street. The vehicle was also seen without headlights or taillights. About five minutes later, a Fond du Lac police officer spotted the vehicle near E.

Nearly half of Wisconsinites approve of Gov. Evers, but 55% oppose 2026 run, survey finds

(WLUK) -- Nearly half of Wisconsinites in a survey approve of the job Governor Tony Evers is doing however 55% do not want him to run again in 2026. The survey was conducted June 13-19, 2025, interviewing 873 Wisconsin registered voters, with a margin of error of +/-4.7 percentage points. A large majority of Democrats, 83%, support a third term bid by Evers. Among independents, 37% favor a third term and 50% oppose another race for Evers. Republicans oppose a third term by 93% to just 7% in favor.
Dodge County inmate sentenced to 30 years for attack on officer and fellow inmate

(WLUK) -- A Dodge County jail inmate was sentenced for attacking a correctional officer with a fashioned weapon. William Lasalle, 50, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 10 years of supervision after he was convicted of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. Lasalle was also convicted of aggravated battery intended to cause great bodily harm for attacking another inmate. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years of extended supervision for that assault.
