    GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A Green Bay Correctional Institution inmate was convicted Wednesday of a hate crime in the killing of his cellmate. A jury found Jackson Vogel, 25, guilty of first-degree intentional homicide as a hate crime. Vogel admitted killing Micah Laureano last Aug. 27 at the prison. Vogel told investigators he choked Laureano over his race and sexual preference.

    The state Department of Natural Resources says the elk's death was reported March 18 near Black River Falls. A necropsy -- a procedure similar to an autopsy, but performed on animals -- confirmed the elk died of a gunshot wound. Investigators used data from the elk's GPS radio collar and cellular trail cameras to learn more information about the shooting.
