    SHREVEPORT, La. - Saturday's runoff election was a head-to-head battle for the qualifying candidates. The Caddo Parish Sheriff's race was a historic close call with only one vote putting Henry Whitehorn (D) ahead of his Republican opponent John Nickelson. After a call for a recount by Nickelson on Saturday, irregularities in voting have been examined by Caddo Parish. With over 43,000 votes casted, KTBS 3 News has obtained the voting irregularities sheets for 60 precincts in the area.

    SHREVEPORT, La. - American Legion, a non-profit organization of U.S. war veterans, hosted their 2023 awards ceremony to recognize members of Shreveport Police Department (SPD), Shreveport Fire Department (SFD), and Boys State participants. The event featured city leaders including Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux and Congressman Mike Johnson. The Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award was presented to Trevor Pinckley of SPD. Firefighter of the Year was presented to Calvin Baker of SFD.

    SHREVEPORT, La. - Academy Sports and Outdoors partnered with Shreveport Police Department (SPD) to surprise 10 kids with Community Renewal International with a back-to-school shopping spree on Thursday. Each child was given a $150 Academy gift card to shop alongside Shreveport police officers for new shoes, clothes, backpacks, sports equipment, and other essential items for the new school year.

    SHREVEPORT, La. - Another round of severe storms hit the ArkLaTex on Sunday leaving lots of damage and thousands without power. National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. on Sunday and warned of winds up to 70 MPH with a possibility of hail in some areas. Heavy winds have caused severe damage such as uprooted trees and downed power lines in neighborhoods such as in Shady Grove and south Highland as photographed below.
