What makes it feel like summer to you? Is it the taste of the first tomato sandwich you polish off? Is it the smell of fresh-cut grass? The sound of an old-fashioned ice cream maker? Or the feeling of sugar white sand between your toes? kA 5:ClQ=ECQm{2E6=J[ E96 5C6?49:?8 @7 2 52:=J E@CC6?E:2= 5@H?A@FC D66>D E@ 36 E96 567:?:?8 492C24E6C:DE:4 @7 $F>>6C a_ad]k^AmkA 5:ClQ=ECQmx <?@H[ x <?@H] %9:D :D?’E 6I24E=J 3C62<:?8 ?6HD] (6 2C6 @?6 @7 E96 H6EE6DE 4:E:6D :?

I spend a lot of time thinking about horrible things, like if our country is going to erupt in civil war at some point. Or maybe we will come to the brink, but then we will have to join forces once again to take down our evil AI robot overlords. But I’ve seen “The Terminator,” so I don’t think we can win. I really don’t. Metal trumps flesh and bone just about every time. kA 5:ClQ=ECQmx E9:?< 23@FE 9@H @7E6? :E D66>D =:<6 H6 2C6 @?

Langan Park, Sage Park and now the “Jewel on Joachim,” the Saenger Theatre. Places we take our children to feed the geese and swing, play basketball or soccer, or perform on stage in a dance recital. These should all be safe places where no one has to fear for their own safety or the safety of their loved ones. But now the sounds of gunfire and screams and the smell of gunpowder have tainted the air of all of these spaces. A life was lost at Sage and another at the Saenger.

Last week, Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, who has been waiting for Gov. MeeMaw to step aside and readying to run for governor for years, announced he would not seek the position after all and would return to the private sector. This decision shocked many Yellowhammer State political insiders, who have been watching Ainsworth prepare for what seemed to be his “destiny.”kA 5:ClQ=ECQmqFE H96? 7@C>6C pF3FC? 4@249 2?5 &]$] $6?] %@>>J %F36CG:==6 2??@F?465 9:D :?E6?E:@? There seems to be a bit of a coyote outbreak both in Mobile and Baldwin counties of late. Just this week, the Daphne City Council approved a contract for a wildlife services company to trap and remove the coyotes from the Jubilee City. The coyotes are suspects in multiple cat disappearances and the death of at least one dog. kA 5:ClQ=ECQm(96? 2D<65 H92E E96 4@>A2?J A=2?D E@ 5@ H:E9 E96 4@J@E6D @?46 EC2AA65[ |2J@C #@3:? {6y6F?6 H2D DF44:?4E]k^AmkA 5:ClQ=ECQm“%96 A=2?
