MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The attorney for the Mobile County teacher accused of giving her student a drink containing ethanol is asking the court for a unique request. Court records show Tracy Walker’s attorney filed a motion asking the judge to let her go on a six-day, pre-paid and pre-scheduled trip to the Bahamas in July.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A Fairhope mother and daughter are making history by flying in the 2025 Air Race Classic. The aviation competition draws female pilots from across the country to continue the legacy that began in 1929 with the Women’s Air Derby. 40 teams and over 90 women are soaring across roughly 2,400 miles of landscape. Each team has at least two women. Many of the pilots are students, teachers, doctors and business owners. Click here to see the planes’ locations.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - One year ago today, three people were injured in shark attacks in Walton County, Florida. The survivors include Mountain Brook, Alabama teen Lulu Gribbin, her friend, McCray Faust, and Elisabeth Foley of Virginia. Lulu and McCray were swimming on a sandbar when they were attacked. While McCray’s injuries were minor, Lulu lost her left hand and right leg. Medics and tourists visiting the beach ultimately saved her life.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) - A teacher in Alabama was arrested after a 4-year-old student in her care was taken to a hospital with a blood alcohol content of 0.29, according to authorities. Tracy Walker, 56, is charged with aggravated child abuse, according to the Mobile County Metro Jail records. The case came to light April 28 when the parents of a 4-year-old at Collins-Rhodes Elementary School took the child to USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital after picking her up from school severely ill.
