Maize senior Alan Hanna delivered the highlight of day one with a dominant performance in the 6A boys’ high jump. Hanna cleared 6’10” on his first attempt, then became the only athlete to clear 7 feet and 7’2″.

    WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Garden City Community College held its first Elite Camp powered by MTXE Sports and Adidas on Wednesday at Kapaun Mt. Carmel. The event brought together over 200 athletes from across the region. The camp provided an opportunity for high school athletes to showcase their talents in front of college coaches from 14 schools. “We’ve got a lot of NAIA and Division II coaches out here, so it’s a good day,” said Garden City head football coach Kiyoshi Harris.

(KSNW) — The Maize South Mavericks went 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon with wins against Goddard High and Valley Center to punch their ticket to state. “Super proud of them,” explained head coach Cody Stucky. “Just a very talented group. They work hard and they’re just really motivated because last year was it was rough at the end of last year. So we’ve been pretty motivated.”“We all blend well together, and we’re headed to state,” added sophomore pitcher Kinslee Cottner.
