AQS QuiltWeek is less than a week away, and American Quilter’s Society staff members on Thursday began the process of moving the quilts into the Paducah-McCracken County Convention Center. Staffers hauled in box after box of quilts into the convention center, preparing to stage them for display. Quilts entered in the QuiltWeek competition were kept under wraps Thursday, and they will be judged starting Friday.

A student from western Kentucky was recently named the 2024-2025 Homecoming Queen at Murray State University. Magalee Blazina was crowned Saturday, Oct. 19, right before the homecoming football game kickoff at Roy Stewart Stadium. Magalee was nominated for the prestigious title by the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, of which she is the vice president, as well as nominated by the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Mark your calendars for next Tuesday, October 29. A documentary about the deadly December 2021 tornado that hit Mayfield, Kentucky will be airing at the Princess Theater, located at 1102 Paris Rd.The documentary was filmed by musician Trace Adkins, who filmed a music video in Mayfield and put on a free concert last May. Additionally, he filmed the upcoming documentary in that stretch of time.

Mayfield’s Halloweentown Hunt kicked off last Friday, and you’re invited to participate in the spooky fun — with the chance to win a prize this Thursday!“The City of Mayfield needs your help!” The City of Mayfield posted in the spirit of fun on Facebook. “The evil warlock is trying to put a spell over the town, and we need your help to stop him! One of his spells backfired and it left us a clue sheet and the location of a series of riddles at businesses across the community.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office has announced their 7th annual Cram the Cruiser Event, hosted by the sheriff’s office and Graves County Dollar Tree stores. The department is collecting non-perishable food items for the Mayfield-Graves County Need Line & Food Pantry. The sheriff’s office is also collecting toys for the Community Christmas Connection, as well as supplies for the local women’s shelter.

Voting for this year’s hay bale trail in Mayfield, Kentucky, has come to an end, and the winners have been announced. With more than 150 bales created, this year’s trail was the biggest it has ever been. The year’s old tradition brings together the Graves County community and pulls in tourists to check out the local businesses who created the bales. The winners were chosen by voters on Facebook.

Mayfield’s Halloweentown Hunt kicked off last Friday, and the public is invited to participate in the spooky fun — with the chance to win a prize on Thursday. The city’s scavenger hunt starts at City Hall, located at 1257 Paris Rd., where participants get a booklet, some candy and a jump on solving riddles at local businesses. In total, there are 15 participating businesses and organizations. The riddles are on an orange poster board at the businesses listed below.
