    President Donald Trump has approved Gov. Andy Beshear’s request for a major disaster declaration in response to widespread flooding and damage across Kentucky caused by severe weather that began April 2, including individual assistance for McCracken County and 12 others. In a news release announcing that the president issued the declaration, Beshear’s office said requests for public assistance for 33 counties and hazard mitigation for the entire state remain pending.

    PADUCAH — The Paducah Convention and Visitors Bureau on Tuesday dedicated a bench in honor of its late, longtime executive director Mary Hammond. Hammond held the position at the bureau for 23 years. She died in March 2024, shortly after she announced plans to retire. Dedicating the bench at the bureau at 128 Broadway, current Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Alyssa Phares said this week was the perfect time to honor Hammond's legacy.

    AQS QuiltWeek kicks off today, and American Quilter’s Society staff members on April 17 began the process of moving the quilts into the Paducah-McCracken County Convention Center. Staffers hauled in box after box of quilts into the convention center, preparing to stage them for display.
