Class 2A No. 1 Underwood keeps finding ways to win and did it again in a big Western Iowa Conference game against Logan-Magnolia in a 3-2 thriller on a hot and windy Friday night in Underwood. A key second inning and defense kept the Eagles undefeated record intact and put them further in the driver’s seat for the WIC title race. “You've got to be able to win the one-run games, and we've been able to do that,” Underwood coach Andy Vanfossan said. “Credit to the boys.

It was a tale of two nights as Class 2A No. 14 Treynor found their bats on the second day of the game to defeat Class 3A No. 10 Missouri Valley 5-2 on Wednesday evening. After some offensive challenges on Monday, Treynor found some mojo in the fifth inning on Wednesday to avenge a previous 1-0 loss to the Lady Reds on May 30. “I'm so proud of us for coming back,” Treynor head coach Erin Hochstein said. “It's hard to resume a game like that, and they came in with that energy.

In an early game to beat impending weather, Class 2A No. 1 Underwood’s pitching and defense did just enough to remain unbeaten and in the driver’s seat for the Western Iowa Conference title with a 2-1 win over Tri-Center on Tuesday afternoon. It was a much different game than Underwood's 13-1 win June 2, but the Eagle's defense made the difference, keeping the winning team the same. “It was a totally different game, but they all played well,” Underwood coach Andy Vanfossan said.

St. Albert held Class 2A No. 1 Underwood to its closest game yet, but the Eagles ground out just one more necessary play to escape the Falcons' upset bid in Underwood 3-2 on Wednesday night. Anytime St. Albert took the lead or tied the game, Underwood had an answer, despite their lowest scoring total of the season thus far, but the youthful mix with upperclassmen found a way.
