LPL’s Restaurant & Pub takes pride in the food it serves but doesn't think that's enough. It believes in treating diners like family. “We pretty much know everybody’s name when they come in,” co-owner Danah Grass told The Nonpareil in an interview. Co-owner Kelsy Young added: “We take pride in knowing our customers.”The customers at the eatery, located at 1707 Harry Langdon Blvd., seem to appreciate that. “We have so many regulars,” Young said.

There’s going to be quite a show in Council Bluffs this Sunday evening as Foreigner, one of America’s greatest rock bands, comes to the Stir Concert Cove to perform hits that have been played on the airwaves for decades. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and is part of a nationwide Farewell Tour in recognition of the retirement of lead singer Kelly Hansen at the end of the year.

A survey recently launched launched to find out why the population of Council Bluffs has not grown significantly for decades. This survey — sponsored by the Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce, the Iowa West Foundation and the City of Council Bluffs — was announced last Wednesday at the chamber’s mid-year meeting at the Mid-America Center. Chris LaFerla, the chamber’s president and CEO, said this stagnation in growth is alarming to him and other civic leaders.
