By Ava McCullough (February 24, 2025) — On February 12, 2025, the Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys Basketball fell to the Ellington Knights 81-44. The Knights, who are not in HKHS’s division, played a much different style of game and were able to outplay and outpace the Cougars after HK briefly took the lead in the first quarter. HKHS was led by seniors Andrew Crayton and Cody Robinson with 15 and 9 points, respectively.

The score does not reflect the effort put forth by the Cougars or the closeness of the game. HKHS surged in the third quarter with a quarter-ending three-pointer by senior Andrew Crayton to bring the score to within two.

By Ava McCullough (February 11, 2025) — On February 8, 2025, the Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys Basketball team defeated the North Branford Thunderbirds 64 – 57. Strong performances by junior Declan Moriarty (17 points) and senior Cody Robinson (14 points) helped the Cougars secure the victory as HKHS improves to 9-9 on the season. HK was down by three after the first quarter and entered the third quarter tied at 26.

The game was tied after the first quarter with the Cougars taking the lead by one point at the half. The Cougars went into the fourth quarter tied at 34 after a third quarter-ending three pointer by senior Andrew Crayton.

By Ava McCullough (January 27, 2025) — On January 24, 2025, the Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys Basketball team lost to the Coginchaug Blue Devils 60-55. The Cougars kept the game close and led in the first quarter; however Coginchaug was able to take advantage in the later quarters when the Cougars were stymied by the Blue Devils offense. HK hustled and defended against a substantially bigger team, though in the end the Blue Devils prevailed.

Player of the game accolades go to senior Joe Slane, who had a career-high 18 points. Slane also pulled down 4 rebounds, had 1 steal and 2 assists. Other noteworthy performances included senior Andrew Crayton who had 22 points and 8 rebounds, and senior Cody Robinson who had 8 points and 3 assists.

Senior Andrew Crayton led with 14 points followed by senior Cody Robinson with 12. Juniors Spencer Savoy and Jay Evans chipped in 10 and 9, respectively.

Senior Cody Robinson led all scorers with 17 points followed by Andrew Crayton with 12 and junior Jay Evans with 10. The star of the game, however, was Senior Jake McKenzie who, along with Crayton, combined for 16 rebounds.

By Ava McCullough (January 13, 2025) — The Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys Basketball team triumphed over conference rival Old Saybrook on January 10, 2025 with a 79-63 victory. It was a refreshing win for the Cougars after dropping two in a row. The Cougars were led by seniors Andrew Crayton (27 points) and Cody Robinson (21 points). Juniors Declan Moriarty and Jay Evans each contributed 11 points while powerhouse Spencer Savoy chipped in 5.
