Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), has criticised Umar Damagum, the acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for directing Samuel Anyanwu to resume as the party’s national secretary. Speaking at the inauguration of interchange bridges of arterial road in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike said since Anyanwu is not an appointee of Damagum, the acting national chairman cannot direct him to resume duties.

Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, has tackled Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, over his comment against the administration of President Bola Tinubu. Speaking in an interview with Arise Television programme, el-Rufai said Tinubu would require a miracle to secure re-election in 2027. El-Rufai said a poll conducted by his group in various regions, particularly in the south-east and north, showed a 91 percent disapproval rating for the president.

Hoodlums have killed two youths who were indigenes of Kano state, at Agan settlement in Makurdi, the Benue capital. The deceased, identified as Jamilu Ahmad and Barhana Suleiman, were said to have been travelling through Makurdi before the incident on Monday evening. The deceased are sons of Ibrahim Khalil, a Kano-based Islamic scholar. They were buried at the Gudu cemetery in Abuja on Tuesday.

During the launch of the renewed hope mechanisation programme in Abuja on Monday, President Bola Tinubu said Alexander Zingman, a Belarusian businessman, was his schoolmate at Chicago State University (CSU). While Zingman was in attendance at the event, Tinubu described him as a “very good friend” and “neighbour” during his time at CSU. “To all of you, Alex was my very good neighbour and went to the same school with me in Chicago,” Tinubu said.
