Byrnes Mill Police are trying to keep teen drivers safe and educate their parents about Missouri’s Graduated Driver’s License Law. The Police Department will hold a “First Impact Keeping Your Teen Driver Safe Seminar” from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Byrnes Mill City Hall, 141 Osage Executive Circle. The free seminar is open to parents, teens, grandparents and other community members. Allyn Workman and Carol Hoormann, health educators from First Impact Mo, will speak at the event.

The Jefferson County Lutheran Churches group will hold its 10th annual Grace Day on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Zion Lutheran Church, 9700 Zion Lutheran Church Road, in Hillsboro. The event, which will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, is aimed at helping families with children in kindergarten through grade 12 as they get ready to start a new school year.

The city of Byrnes Mill just got a little bigger. The Byrnes Mill Board of Alderpersons voted 4-0 June 26 to annex an approximately .95-acre vacant lot at 27 Walters Place into the city limits. Ward 1 Alderman Bob Prado and Ward 2 Alderwoman Cindy Davies were absent from the meeting. It was a voluntary annexation, so Byrnes Mill residents were not required to vote to approve it. The lot is just behind Captain D’s in House Springs and is now a part of the city of Byrnes Mill.

Grandview High School has a new principal – Allen Davis, who has been an educator and coach in Jefferson County for more than 40 years. The Grandview R-2 Board of Education voted 7-0 on April 16 to name Davis the high school principal for the 2024-2025 school year. Davis, 68, of De Soto, is no stranger to the district.
