Senza di esso oggi non bruceremmo né carbone né petrolio, non accenderemmo il riscaldamento e non griglieremmo la carne. Quest’ultima, se viene cotta, è più sana di quella mangiata cruda e il fuoco consente di cucinare piante altrimenti indigeribili, tiene lontani gli animali e fornisce calore.
