Congregation Agudas Achim in Bexley has launched a $1.5 million fundraising campaign to support the synagogue’s future. The campaign, titled “Makom Campaign: Creating Our Jewish Place from Generation to Generation,” will be conducted over the next three years and will “ensure the future vitality and sustainability of our beloved synagogue,” according to a March 25 news release from the shul.

Temple Israel in Columbus has hired a new rabbi educator. Rabbi Josh Shapiro, who will be ordained this spring at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles, will begin his tenure with the temple on July 1.

Congregation Beth Tikvah in Worthington has named Rabbi Karen Martin as its new assistant rabbi. According to a Feb. 13 news release, the congregation’s board of trustees affirmed the decision earlier that day. Martin has signed a contract and will begin in the role on July 1. She was identified and recommended to the board of trustees by Beth Tikvah’s Rabbinic Search Task Force and Search Committee following a two-year selection process, the release said.
