    GORHAM (WGME) – Two horses were put down by police Friday night after being hit by a vehicle in Gorham. Gorham police say the horses escaped from a nearby pasture and were struck on Route 202 near Queen Street. Police had to shoot the horses because of the injuries they sustained. The two people in the vehicle were not injured. Investigators say the horses were dark, making it difficult for the driver of the vehicle to see the horses in the road. Speed is not considered a factor in the crash.

    PORTLAND (WGME) – A Maine state representative and lobsterman is alive to talk about a scary ordeal he experienced prior to Hurricane Lee arriving in Maine. Rep. Billy Bob Faulkingham was bringing his boat in on Friday when he and his friend experienced a rogue wave. Organizers attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of Elvis impersonators. Those behind the event, which is taking place during National Elvis Week, say it's to honor Elvis Presley's only performance in Maine, which took place in 1977 at the Augusta Civic Center.
