Migrating flocks of wild birds can carry avian influenza, also known as the bird flu. That’s why Kansas officials are warning residents to avoid sick birds and report or dispose of dead ones. Tom Bidroski is a migratory game bird specialist with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. He said flocks of wild birds can come from as far as the Arctic and travel to the Gulf of Mexico.
