Chronic pulmonary disease and asthma limit the 63-year-old's mobility, making it important for her to have a pharmacy near her home.

Fernando Pineda, a 52-year-old undocumented immigrant from El Salvador who also works as a mover for U-Haul, said he's ambivalent about Trump's win because he feels protected by San Francisco's status as a sanctuary city, meaning it does not coordinate with ICE to deport undocumented immigrants. "In San Francisco, if you have no documents, it's OK," Pineda said, adding that he's never had an encounter with ICE agents since coming to the city 20 years ago. Immigration lawyers are worried too.

On Halloween, San Francisco is in its best form. Kids and parents and pets alike are decked out in incredibly creative costumes. Think: mom dressed as homemade purple rain cloud with her baby dressed as Prince. Genius! The streets are alive - literally. I saw a motion-activated stuffed spider hanging from an electric cable in Cole Valley. Another one was hiding between some bushes, ready to pounce on unsuspecting walkers-by.

San Francisco is suing the owner and property manager of two Bayview warehouses that were illegally operating as cannabis grow houses, the city announced Thursday. The warehouse tenants had been cultivating nearly 6,000 marijuana plants without a license in violation of city and state laws, according to City Attorney David Chiu. The city alleges that the property manager David Chi-Yu Lai was aware of the operations and profited from leasing the warehouses for the illegal activity.

At the Walgreens on Mission Street, customers face similar issues. At midday on a Friday, a line of some 15 people snaked in front of the pharmacy. Anne Norland, a Sacred Heart Cathedral drama teacher, has been getting prescriptions filled at the store since her insurance changed over the summer. She can't get her meds mailed and thought she'd try coming midday to beat the after-work rush but still found a crowd. "[It] becomes a whole afternoon event," Norland said.
