Matt Molloy is a true legend of Irish music and has been member of some of the most influential bands in traditional music, including The Bothy Band, Planxty and The Chieftains. His three solo albums, as well as his trio recording with Tommy Peoples and Paul Brady in the late 70’s brought flute playing to a new level. Born in London but living in Boyle for over 25 years, John Carty has established himself among the elite of Irish traditional musicians.

Consairtín, the national concertina convention, in collaboration with the Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA), is offering a €1,500 student bursary for research on concertina-related material. Open to registered undergraduate and postgraduate students in Ireland, the bursary supports research culminating in a 45-minute presentation at Consairtín 2025, held from 24–27 April in Ennis, Co. Clare.

Northern Ireland Opera’s next major production at the Grand Opera House is ‘Follies’, winner of 7 Tony Awards on its debut on Broadway in 1971. Set in that same year, the girls of Weismann’s ‘Follies’ are returning with their partners to the decaying theatre on Broadway which holds so many memories for them for one last time before it is demolished. Time may have moved on, but inside the theatre old connections stir, rivalries flare and ghosts of the past are woken.
