When walking to class, it begins to rain. You forgot your rain jacket at home, but think nothing of it. Instead, you continue on your way — then it starts downpouring. Within minutes, you are jumping over rivers in the middle of the sidewalk or lakes in parking lots. App State needs to come up with a better drainage system before the whole campus floods. It almost feels as though every time it rains, there is a flood watch.

April 3, 2024 On Aug. 21, the App State Hickory Campus opened to students. This is a dream for many students who want to attend App State’s main campus, but can’t afford housing or don’t want to go to a big school. However, for App State’s main campus students, the Hickory Campus has become a nightmare. It might be easy to look at all the upsides to having a satellite campus.

Some of these techniques require students to be in a group setting, where they can work together. Public display of affection, better known as PDA, is a word present amongst middle schoolers, high schoolers, college students and adults. PDA can sometimes be cute, such as holding hands or a quick peck on the cheek or forehead to say goodbye. However, that is not what many people think of when they hear the word PDA. When people see others making out in the middle of a public place or sitting on each other’s laps, the idea of cute PDA becomes ruined.

On Dec. 8, 2023, Ohio Pastor Chris Avell found himself pleading not guilty on 18 criminal charges. Many people might look at this pastor and see a criminal with that many charges, but not every situation is as it seems. Avell was charged with violation of the zoning laws while keeping his church in Bryan, Ohio open 24/7 to the city’s homeless population.

Romance reality TV shows are great when you want to sit down at the end of the day and watch someone else’s dating life unfold. Many of these shows have been incredibly popular throughout the years, an example being “The Bachelor,” which first aired on March 25, 2002. That was almost 22 years ago and the show is currently on its 28th season, with multiple other shows in the franchise.

Naps: the activity that most students partake in, yet still one not recognized by some universities. When people think of naptime, elementary school naps immediately pop into their heads. However, college students also need naps but many times do not have the time nor the space. App State has two sides of campus: east side and west side, where the west side is far from many different classes or social spaces.

Winter is now in full swing and snow continues to fall like there is no tomorrow. Last year Boone did not receive as much snow as originally anticipated, causing many college students and locals to be upset. However, Boone is finally getting the amount of snow it deserves this year and people are ecstatic. College students are running around like crazy building snowmen and sledding down hills on campus.
