From pv magazine AustraliaEngie's Australian division has started building Victoria’s largest solar farm to date, with even bigger projects in the state's pipeline. The 250 MW Goorambat East Solar Farm, which sits in northern Victoria between the towns of Goorambat and Benalla, is scheduled for completion in 2026, with operations to begin in 2027. Engie acquired the project from Neoen in late 2023.

Impact Minerals in collaboration with Edith Cowan University and CPC Engineering has secured a $2.87 million grant from the federal government’s Cooperative Research Centres Projects (CRC-P) program. Manilla, a small town in the New South Wales (NSW) north-west, is persevering with its ambition to build Australia’s largest community-funded solar project. Local residents and national investors are being invited to invest in the 4.6 MW project, with community engagement roadshow events across the region to be held this week. The Manilla Solar project was first conceived in 2012, and in the years since has seen many iterations.

Sydney-based company Rux Energy has secured $3 million (USD 1.3 million) in the latest round of federal Cooperative Research Centres Projects (CRC-P) grants to fund its pilot manufacturing and industrial validation trials, announced on Tuesday. Rux Energy is commercialising technology that uses nanoporous materials that it says allow it to store hydrogen at near-liquid densities in moderate temperatures and at lower pressures with zero boil-off.

The New South Wales Energy and Water Ombudsman has been allocated $1.3 million (USD 870,000) in grant funding from the NSW government to move into dispute resolution pertaining to renewable energy projects and infrastructure. The introduction of renewable energy related Ombudsman, which operate independent to government and industry, was one of the key recommendations from a formal Community Engagement Review into the renewable energy industries in Australia.
