FOREST — Cowen Napior felt like he was on cloud nine after pouring on two goals against Jefferson Forest on Friday night. But the personal performance paled in comparison to watching his Hilltoppers finally down the Cavaliers. "This team has been chasing victory for so long," he said. So long, as in six years. So long that some of the Glass varsity players on the pitch Friday were in elementary school the last time the Hilltoppers earned a win over their rival.

FOREST — Connor Roberts grew up playing striker. Then, one day several years ago, he was talking with classmate Jacob Kuminski. He told Kuminski he was thinking about becoming a goalie. Kuminski's reply: "Dude, you should just do it."And that's when Roberts, now a senior, decided to make the transition from offense to defense, and to the loneliest, most isolated spot on the pitch. ****He must've shown promise, but the road to becoming a starter was blocked.

Armed with a particular sense of togetherness, the Cavaliers enter Thursday's showdown against E.C. Glass at Lynchburg City Stadium without a blemish.

Over the last couple of years, Jefferson Forest football coach JT Crews has lauded his offensive line as a main reason for his program's offensive success. On Wednesday, two of those linemen made official their intentions to play at the Division I level. Linemen Logan Candis and Jacob Tisoskey each attended a ceremony for 11 athletes at the school, and both announced their intentions to attend VMI in the fall. The pair helped Forest rack up 19 wins against just five losses the last two seasons.
