    The Upperman High School baseball team couldn’t rally in a non-district home matchup on Thursday night as the Watertown Purple Tigers outlasted the Bees 6-1 in Baxter. The loss drops the UHS boys to 12-8 overall, but they remain perfect in District 7-3A at 6-0. Watertown got the scoring started quickly with one run in the top half of the first inning, but most of the Purple Tiger’s damage came from five hits and four runs in the top of the third.

    The Cookeville High School tennis program split a pair of non-district home matches on Thursday as the Cavaliers narrowly defeated Science Hill 5-4, while the Lady Cavs fell to SCHS 9-0 at CHS. The win keeps the Cavs’ perfect season alive at 7-0 overall, while their district record remains 4-0. The loss bumps the Lady Cavs down to 5-3 overall, but they remain 4-1 in the district. The Cavs were led by Daul Baek and Isaac Wheeler as both won their singles and doubles matchups.

    BYRDSTOWN — The Monterey High School softball team dominated a non-district game on the road Thursday night as it only took three innings for the Lady Wildcats to rout the Pickett County Lady Bobcats 19-1 in Byrdstown. The Lady Wildcats’ sixth win in the last seven games bumps them up to 10-6 overall, and their 3-1 District 5-2A record stays the same.

    The Cookeville High School girls lacrosse team has opened the 2025 season with a 7-4 overall record, and the Lady Cavaliers still have both of their Region 2-2A games ahead of them. “We’re definitely in good shape for our district games,” CHS head coach Resa Roberts said. It all started with the Battle of the Greenbelt tournament in Memphis on February 28 and 29, where the Lady Cavs beat White Station 15-4, but they also lost to Brentwood 17-4 and Briarcrest 13-5.

    The Cookeville High School soccer team narrowly won a District 7-3A matchup at home on Thursday as the Cavaliers beat the visiting Lebanon Blue Devils 3-2 at CHS. The win bumps the CHS boys up to 7-1-1 overall and 4-1 in the district. Lebanon drew first blood by scoring a goal around the 15th minute, but the Cavs responded with a penalty kick goal from Brayden Gallagher about 10 minutes later.
