Pete Nuij has been hired asΒ the AbbotsfordΒ School District's new assistant superintendent. The district made the announcement on Monday (June 16) and he will work alongside fellow assistant superintendent Bruce Cunnings andΒ superintendent Sean Nosek. Nuij joins Abbotsford after more than two decades in public education and served as a teacher, school administrator, principal and director of instruction.

The Abbotsford Police Department released numbers from what they called a busy weekend, with teams responding to 355 files from Friday (June 13) at 5 p.m. to Monday (June 16) at 6 a.m. The biggest incident was aΒ serious collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Gladwin Road and Chilcotin Drive on Sunday (June 15) evening. That crash sent both drivers to the hospital andΒ the motorcycle driver suffered life-threatening injuries.
