    Massachusetts is pushing homeowners to switch from oil or gas heat to electric heat pumps, but several people who have made that switch said they have buyer's remorse. They said they were shocked at how expensive it was this winter to heat their homes with electricity and believe the state should have done more to lower the cost sooner, especially if it wants everyone to adopt electric heat pumps. Laura and Joe Stephens could not believe their electric bills this winter.

    After a winter of sky-high natural gas bills, regulators in Massachusetts have now said the state's gas companies may have been overcharging customers for work they're doing to replace pipes. The finding comes as part of a new series of actions the Department of Public Utilities is taking to try to lower customer bills. In orders issued late Wednesday, the DPU immediately cut the amount of money gas companies can spend on pipe repair and replacement.

    A Massachusetts woman's fight to get her bank to act on fraudulent charges is serving as a warning to all consumers. Jennifer Colleran noticed her checking account was low last fall. When she looked closer, she saw a nearly $2,800 charge she didn't recognize. "It's a lot of money. It's definitely something that drew my attention," said Colleran. What appeared to be a debit card purchase was identified only as "SP Midwest Retail Prop" in Clayton, Missouri.
