The search continued Tuesday for a missing boy after he fell into the Merrimack River near the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts, on Saturday. Azriel Lopez, 4, fell into the river just before 6 p.m. near the Western Canal at 300 Arcand Drive, the Lowell Police Department said. Early indications suggest that the boy was quickly pulled by the river's current after he fell into the water.A team of divers and a police drone are searching the area Tuesday.

Opening statements are scheduled for Tuesday in the retrial of Karen Read, the Massachusetts woman accused in connection with the death of her boyfriend, a Boston police officer. Jury selection concluded on April 15, after 10 days of work over three weeks. Eighteen people were selected to serve in the case. After closing arguments, 12 will be selected to deliberate and others will be alternates. Read, 45, of Mansfield, is a former adjunct professor at Bentley University.

Harvard University announced Monday that it filed a lawsuit to stop the funding freeze ordered by President Donald Trump's administration. In a letter to students and faculty, Harvard president Alan M. Garber wrote that the over $2 billion funding freeze was "unlawful and beyond the government's authority."The lawsuit, which was filed in Massachusetts District Court on Monday, named several members of Trump's cabinet, including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F.

At the family reunification center, runners reunited with loved ones after running over 26 miles in the 129th Boston Marathon. Abby Dubel was brought to tears when she crossed the finish line on Boylston Street, but she had no idea that another surprise was waiting for her nearby. Her boyfriend, Kyle Jones, dropped down on one knee and proposed after she collected her medal. "Ever since I've known her, she's always wanted to do the Boston Marathon," Jones said.
