Many of the traffic lights on junction 16 went dark on drivers (Image: Newsquest) A busy junction of the M4 in Swindon controlled by traffic lights was hit by a major outage when around half the lights stopped working. The Spittleborough roundabout at junction 16 has five exits merging M4 traffic with that from other B and A roads. Drivers were left to use their own judgement following the outage, but there was no noticeable effect on traffic flow.

A police car was rammed in a chase following a road rage assault in Wiltshire. Shortly after noon on Saturday, October 12, police received a report of an assault in Steele Close, Devizes, following a road rage incident on London Road. Officers found and stopped the suspect in his vehicle on New Park Street in Devizes - but not before a police car was rammed twice. The suspect, a man in his 20s, tried to make off on foot but officers tracked and detained him.

2 1/1 Police are searching for a man in connection with a Swindon assault. Richard Martin, 48, is wanted by Wiltshire Police, who have appealed to the public for help locating him. The full appeal states: “We are appealing to the public for help in finding wanted man Richard Martin. “Martin, 48, is wanted in connection with an assault in Swindon. “If you see him, or know of his whereabouts, please contact us on 101 quoting reference 54240106073.”
