STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) -- Steuben County Legislative Chair Kelly H. Fitzpatrick called out New York and Federal leaders over what she claims is a lack of inaction after the county has dealt with three straight years of natural disasters. Fitzpatrick said the county is at a breaking point as it pertains to the flood crisis. “For three years, our people have endured what should have been once-in-a-century disasters—over and over again,” Fitzpatrick said.

STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Steuben County Office of Emergency Management announced on Tuesday, May 6th that storms from the day before have caused flooding and damage across the county. Areas hit the hardest include Canisteo, Greenwood, Hartsville, Jasper, Woodhull and more. For many Steuben County residents, this latest round of flooding is just the latest to hit the county in recent years.

UPDATE: 3:30 P.M. -- According to the Chemung Volunteer Fire Department, County Route 60 is back open as of roughly 2:40 p.m. and all evacuation orders have been confirmed as lifted. Fire officials confirmed a utility company has repaired the damage to the gas line. The leak is currently under investigation. UPDATE 1:15 P.M. -- According to the WENY News reporter on the scene, about 25 people in total were evacuated and are now being allowed to return.

CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY -- On Monday, May 5th, the Chemung County Sheriff's Office announced that a third person has been arrested in connection to a search warrant served on Matthews Circle in Horseheads on Friday, May 2nd. According to police, 41-year-old Michael Lyon Jr. was arrested at his home in Erin on multiple warrants. Police say Lyon Jr. tried to flee out of the back of the home but surrendered without incident when met by police.
