The Northern Lights can be seen in some areas of the UK tonight - and the Met Office has revealed the best spots. The sun has now entered its period of greatest activity which means more colourful displays of the aurora borealis can be seen until the middle of the year. The sun goes through an 11-year solar cycle, with periods of intense activity followed by a quiet phase and the further north you live, the more chance of catching a glimpse.

Newcastle and much of the North East is expected to be hit with snow this month, according to a weather map. From March 18, snow is expected to hit parts of the UK in areas in England, Scotland and Wales. The new graphics from WX Charts predicts only the southwest of England and most of Wales - except the north and areas on the border with England - will avoid snow. The Mirror reports that the north of England, including Newcastle, could be hit with snow - up to 2cm- in areas south of Edinburgh.

Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, notorious for its wild parties and celebrity guests including Freddie Mercury and Kate Moss, is the focus of a new film by actor Tamer Hassan. The hotel was established in 1978 by Anthony 'Tony' Pike, who allegedly served cocaine on cornflakes and claimed to have bedded thousands of women. The Guinness Book of Records has dubbed the associated nightclub, now rebranded as 'UNVRS', the "world's biggest". It has attracted stars such as Grace Jones, Jade Jagger and Tony Curtis.
