UCC’s Dr Rosie Everett and Dr Benjamin Geary and Cranfield University’s Dr Karl Harrison explain the challenges of finding and excavating ‘bog bodies’, and what mysteries they might uncover. Occasionally, police investigators find themselves announcing archaeological discoveries, rather than criminal findings. In 1984, for example, police oversaw the recovery of the Iron Age bog body (a naturally mummified corpse found in a peat bog) later called ‘Lindow Man’ in Cheshire, UK.

IntroductionPeptidylarginine deiminases (PADs), including PAD1-4, are responsible for a unique form of post-translational modification, namely peptidylarginine deimination or citrullination, through which positively charged peptidylarginine is converted to neutral non-coding peptidylcitrulline. PADs have been shown to regulate the function of both innate and adaptive immune cells.
