IntroductionPeptidylarginine deiminases (PADs), including PAD1-4, are responsible for a unique form of post-translational modification, namely peptidylarginine deimination or citrullination, through which positively charged peptidylarginine is converted to neutral non-coding peptidylcitrulline. PADs have been shown to regulate the function of both innate and adaptive immune cells.
