This year’s Ironman 70.3 Texas triathlon was one for the record books. The Galveston event, held annually at Moody Gardens, combines a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike course and 13.1-mile run designed to challenge even the most athletic individuals. Competitors in the recent April 6 event faced a different challenge this year. Because of gale-force winds and choppy water, the swim portion of the triathlon was canceled.
