TEXAS CITYJackson Higgins hit a two-out grand slam in the first inning, and Santa Fe kept its foot on the gas in a 15-2 victory over Texas City in a District 20-5A baseball game Tuesday at Robinson Stadium. The Indians, who scored every inning, pounded out nine hits and took advantage of 12 walks to win the game in five innings on the 10-run rule. Six of the walks came around to score, and two came with the bases loaded. The Stings also hit two batters with one coming around to score.

GALVESTONIn March last year, accounting department staffers at Galveston Restaurant Group noticed something was off with email interactions involving a third-party food delivery service. Group officials worried someone might be falsely representing the company to gain access to accounts, and immediately notified their third-party delivery account representative. They were right to be worried because it’s a common scam hitting businesses for thousands of dollars.

LEAGUE CITYAlthough Clear Falls pushed them to the brink, the District 24-6A-leading Clear Lake Falcons played spoiler to retiring Knights head baseball coach Eddie Youngblood’s final home game by staging a seventh-inning rally for a 4-3 win Tuesday night. “They played hard,” said Youngblood, whose 37-year coaching career — the last 15 of which have been at Clear Falls — comes to a close 6 p.m. Friday at Clear Lake. “We didn’t finish like we wanted to, but we gave them a good run for their money.
