It began its journey on April 11, 1842, and holds the distinction of being the oldest newspaper in Texas. Additionally, it played a significant role in establishing The Dallas Morning News on October 1, 1885, as a sister publication. Today, The Daily News serves as the official newspaper for both the City of Galveston and Galveston County.
