    ELLSWORTH -- The Ellsworth Fire Department will now be able to provide more advanced emergency care at the scene of incidents after the state authorized the Department to provide EMS services at the paramedic level. Ellsworth Fire had previously been permitted to provide care at the basic EMT level up to advanced EMT.

    HANCOCK COUNTY -- The Hancock County Food Drive is now in full swing after kicking off this weekend. The annual month-long food collection and fundraising project will help combat food insecurity county wide. The food drive raises funds and brings in food items that will go to local pantries, meal sites and other programs. The goal is to raise $40,000, which will provide 120,000 meals for Hancock County residents. They are also looking for food item donations.

    ORONO -- Next Friday, if you are looking for something to do, the place to be just might be the University of Maine in Orono. Mindy Pelletier is the Program Manager for U-Maine's Center for Undergraduate Research. She says their upcoming student symposium is their "superbowl." It's a major event featuring the work of hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students, some of whom will formally present their research projects throughout the day.

    BANGOR -- A woman charged in connection with the murder of a Corinth man last fall was back in court charged with bail violations. 38-year-old Samantha Mccullough of Bangor is charged with hindering apprehension and tampering with a witness or informant in connection with the death of Dylan Caruso who went missing from Bangor in September. Caruso's body was found in a wooded area in Dexter in October.

    STATEWIDE -- Senator Susan Collins took to the Senate floor to join with Virginia Senator Tim Kaine in pushing to overturn the emergency declaration for the Northern Border that is being used to impose tariffs on Canadian goods. Senator Collins argued in her comments that Maine's economy is deeply integrated with Canada, and that in fact they are Maine's closest trading partner.
