The recent heavy rains in Central Texas have not just raised lake levels. Bacteria levels are also going up in some favorite swimming holes, such as Hamilton Pool. The storms that muddied the water in Hamilton Pool forced Travis County parks officials to temporarily close the natural spring-fed pool to swimmers. A free education and vocational training program in San Marcos is closing after 60 years in operation. Gary Job Corps currently has about 800 students who are working to get their GEDs or technical training. The US Department of Labor says the decision was made to pause operations at several Job Corps centers across the country, including San Marcos, because students are not getting the results they deserve. "My support structure was gone," said Michael Sanchez.

Austin's ongoing power outage has 6,296 Austin Energy customers waiting for their electricity to be restored on Friday evening. Lindsey Schoenfeld and her mom have been without lights and air conditioning for two days. "We have lived here about 8 years and we have never seen anything like this," said Schoenfeld. "They were moving furniture out of the living room.

Austin leaders gathered on Thursday to break down the impact of Wednesday night's supercell thunderstorm. 9-1-1 calls shot up 35%. 72,000 Austin Energy customers lost power. Massive oak trees were uprooted across the city. The latest numbers from Austin Energy show that as of Thursday afternoon, 19,000 customers continue to be without electricity. Crews are working around the clock to restore the remaining outages.
