We are in a busy season of the year as the weather begins to warm up and yards and gardens need attention and farmers planting the crops. Congratulations to all the local high school and college graduates. Local celebrations include the 95th birthday of Mr. Wayne Lupton on May 8, and it also was the 20th for his great grandson, Dean Pownell.

It was a beautiful Easter weekend — perfect for all the local sunrise services and Easter events. The egg hunt held at Grassy Lick community center was well attended. The community center is getting a spruce up this spring with a new paint job. Wayne and Una Lupton hosted a family Easter dinner with 35 present. Karen and Tom Hott took Wayne and Una to Morgantown Friday to visit with Margaret and Marion Rog.

Saturday Eddie and Melinda Racey were honored with a 50th-anniversary party hosted by their daughters and held at their church, Kirby Assembly of God, where they were married in the original church building. Many family and friends were in attendance, including their good friends, Ronnie and Becky Baker, who celebrated their 50th the day before. Nelson and Carolyn Stephens of Martinsburg, arrived in Pot Lick Cove for a day of visiting, fun and activity.

Recent visitors Ernie and I have enjoyed stopping by are Dwight Racey, Chuck and Austin Ramsay, Carolyn Kesner, Debbie Bean and Irene Michael, our daughter Cindy Twigg, and Pastor Jed Metzler. Dee Moore has returned to Horn Camp after a few weeks in Colorado with a friend. Matthew Padgett recently spent some time at his place in Pot Lick Cove. Teresa Lupton enjoyed a visit from her daughter, Kimberley Lupton and grandson Cam of Romney.

We were sad to learn of the recent house fire that resulted in a total loss for Henry “Buster” and Brenda Snider of Horn Camp. They had built their beautiful retirement home on property that had once been in his family, the late Duncan and Mattie Hott, and incorporated materials found on the old homestead into it.
