    An artist from western Iran (Rojhelat) opened a four-day visual arts gallery in Erbil on Sunday under the title “Color, Women, Society.”“I have been thinking for a long time about opening an exhibition in Erbil one day. I wanted to get acquainted with and befriend the artists of this city up close. Additionally, I wanted to show my art and ideas to the city of Erbil, because this is a new and beneficial experience for me as an artist,” Nasr Daneshvar told Rudaw on Sunday.

    Shopkeepers at the historic Qaysari Bazaar in central Erbil have criticized its renovation after a blaze burned many of the shops. The reconstruction supervisor has promised to address any remaining flaws. Many shopkeepers have complained that the contractor has not conducted the work properly and that the renovation process has not done justice to the historic market. One of the main complaints relates to the plasterwork.

    Muslims in the Kurdistan Region’s Duhok gathered on Sunday to perform Eid al-Fitr prayers together. In the Martyrs’ Mosque of Duhok – among the most famous mosques in the city – scores of Muslims gathered for prayer and to ask for forgiveness as they marked the end of Ramadan with Eid al-Fitr, a three-day holiday. The Kurdistan Region declared Sunday as the first day of Eid al-Fitr but in Iraq, Monday is the first day.

He chose to continue his family’s tradition with the craft, following the footsteps of his grandfather. The materials Hakim works with include precious stones, coral, elephant tusks, wild goat, and deer horns.
