On Tuesday, the town council heard from both camps, at a meeting where complaints about the annual Verizon 5K race also were aired. Residents living near Lidgerwood Park thanked the administration for announcing this month that it intends to relocate three noisy pickleball courts.

The youngsters on the sixth-ranked Texas A&M softball hogged the spotlight as the Aggies rolled to a 12-0 victory over the George Washington Revolutionaries in the Texas A&M Invitational on Friday at Davis Diamond. Freshman pitcher Sydney Lessentine threw a masterful five-inning no-hitter. The right-hander struck out 11, including eight straight at one point. Her only blemish was hitting a batter with two outs in the first inning.

Sleeping on a park bench, or in any public or “quasi-public” place, day or night, will become a crime if the Morristown council adopts a “camping” ordinance introduced unanimously after almost no discussion on Tuesday. Escalating penalties for violations would range from $100 to $2,000, and up to 30 days of community service or jail time. Using a blanket could be grounds for arrest.
