Kelly Armstrong declared a statewide disaster and activated the State Emergency Operations Plan after multiple tornadoes, strong winds and hail caused widespread damage Friday across North Dakota, claiming the lives of three people. “Our hearts and sympathies go out to the family and friends of the three North Dakotans who tragically lost their lives in Friday’s tornado, and to the close-knit community in Enderlin, which suffered widespread damage,” Armstrong said.

(KNOX) – The Point Bridge on Minnesota Avenue in Grand Forks will be closed on Tuesday, June 24, starting at 10 am. Crews will be performing a pavement and soil test. The closure is expected to be in place until the afternoon of Tuesday, June 24th.

(File image)(KNOX) – Following the recent severe storms that swept across parts of North Dakota, Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread is urging residents to inspect their property for damage and begin the insurance claims process as soon as possible. “While North Dakota is no stranger to summer weather, the scale and intensity of last night’s storm were especially significant. Our hearts also go out to those who lost their lives during this terrible storm,” said Godfread.

(Photo courtesy of State Historical Society of North Dakota via the North Dakota Monitor)(North Dakota Monitor) – Bruce Hagen, who served on North Dakota’s Public Service Commission for 39 years, died at age 94 in Bismarck. Hagen is believed to be the only Democrat to serve on the state’s Public Service Commission. The Devils Lake native was appointed to fill a vacancy on the three-member board in 1961 by Gov. William Guy.

Cindy Schreiber-Beck amid uncertainty about whether the southeast North Dakota Republican Party district properly elected a chair. Secretary of State Michael Howe that there may not be a legal path in state law for him or Legislative Management to fill the vacancy.
