It’s the leap we hoped the Spurs could make with similar off-season moves to add veterans, but injuries got in the way. Kudos to the job J.B. Bickerstaff has done. My surprise bad team would be the Suns.

The Kings reportedly covet Stephon Castle, but the Spurs do too, and I don’t think they are anywhere close to ready to part with him.

The game didn’t get off to a good start for the black and silver. LA jumped out to an early 7-0 lead due to some sloppy defense from the Spurs, forcing Mitch Johnson to do his best Pop impression by calling a timeout just two minutes in.

Unfortunately, Milwaukee’s hot shooting led them to a 121-105 blowout victory, pushing San Antonio’s losing streak to three. Despite the disappointing result, the Spurs started the game with a bang. Wemby was unsurprisingly at the center of attention, as he blocked Giannis on the first defensive possession before making a one-legged three.

Jesse Johnson-Imagn Images Marilyn Dubinski: If they can keep hovering within a game or two of .500 for the month of January, it will be a success, and honestly, the amount of time they’re on the road is more concerning than the strength of schedule to me. As they learned last week, they can’t make late mistakes on the road and expect to win, but they have also shown they can keep up with good teams.
