As MLB’s exhibition season keeps motoring along, we’ve seen enough things to form opinions on who could help our baseball fantasy team win the championship. Let’s talk about players we project to have breakout seasons. These are players who will take big steps in production, maturity, and realizing their potential. ■ It’s tough to say someone who hit 24 homers with a .263 batting average last year can “break out” in 2024, but Boston first baseman Triston Casas could be that guy.

We're a week into baseball exhibition games (thought we'd never get here), so things are slowly taking shape to make assessments for your fantasy team roster possibilities. WR Justin Jefferson, Minnesota: He missed games because of injuries, but his production was elite. He caught 68 passes for 1,074 yards and five touchdowns, and could have hit 2,000 yards if healthy.

Did you lose your fantasy football playoff game last week? Don't feel bad. Remember, there's a lot of guesswork and luck involved. ■ How were you supposed to know that Atlanta coach Arthur Smith would "devise" an offensive scheme to try to defeat Carolina that wouldn't include running back Bijan Robinson, tight end Kyle Pitts, and wide receiver Drake London? Those three players combined for 13 touches, 75 yards, and zero touchdowns.
