    One of my favorite meals back in my Lehigh University fraternity days was known as Train Wreck. It basically consisted of ground beef, tomato sauce and noodles. We ate mass quantities every time it was served. The fierce competition to get our share of seconds and thirds before we ran out is one reason I’m such a fast eater.

    I attended an event recently where I found myself sitting next to someone in my extended family. For some reason she began talking about the COVID-19 vaccine and how we were told it would prevent anyone from getting the disease, proof that once again our government was lying to us and we can’t trust anything they say. I don’t remember it that way. I politely pointed out that the vaccine was designed to make it less likely we would get COVID and that if we did, it would be less severe.

    The last time I offered a quiz on Philadelphia Eagles history, they won the Super Bowl. That’s reason enough to trot another quiz out today as the Birds prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs. When it comes to sports, I’m seriously superstitious. Two years ago, I made the mistake of altering my lucky outfit at halftime of that Super Bowl matchup between the Eagles and Chiefs, and it cost them the game. I’ll make no such blunder tomorrow.

    About 8 minutes reading time. NEW YORK (AP) — Fay Vincent, who became an unexpected baseball commissioner in 1989 following the death of A. Bartlett Giamatti and then was forced out three years later by owners intent on a labor confrontation with players, has died. He was 86. Vincent had undergone radiation and chemotherapy for bladder cancer and developed complications that included bleeding, said his wife, Christina.
