    In the not-too-distant future, a 16-acre patch of ground just off Hecktown Road on the border of Lower Nazareth and Bethlehem townships will be one of the sweetest places in the Lehigh Valley. Ground was broken Thursday morning by Kervan USA for its future headquarters and manufacturing site, which will be about 90,000 square feet. The Turkish candy company, which specializes in gummies, licorice and marshmallow sweets, is investing nearly $20 million and plans to employ about 50 people.

    A number of people were charged Tuesday after officers serving a search warrant in Allentown were assaulted, according to authorities. Anthony George Fata, 22, was wanted for allegedly using a handgun to threaten someone earlier in the month in the 200 block of North Eighth Street, according to city police. Officers found him Tuesday evening in that same area, and he fled into a nearby home when they approached him, the release states.

The responding officers asked her if she could identify any tattoos that her grandson, Tyrell Holmes, had. She told them he had a tattoo of Mother Mary on his arm.     A cold front is expected to drop temperatures Thursday in the Lehigh Valley after days of dangerous, record-breaking heat. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey, said the region will see “modest relief” as the cold front moves in to the area. A high of 86 is expected Thursday, which is roughly 10 degrees cooler than what was recorded Wednesday. Additionally, showers and storms are in the forecast through Tuesday.
