WOODWORTH, La. (KALB) - Running a roadside lemonade stand may be a great way to teach kids business skills. But for two sisters in Woodworth, it’s much more than that. Paige and Piper are selling pink lemonade to fight breast cancer. The idea started when they found out their grandmother had breast cancer, and the girls were inspired to do something to help others.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Sandy Ray, who has been the Executive Director of the Hope House since 2005 will retire at the end of the year. The Hope House, which is in its 35th year of serving the Central Louisiana community, has spent the last 19 years under Ray. The mission for the non-profit organization is to provide transitional housing for un-housed people. Under Ray’s leadership, the Hope House is now in the process of expanding its resources.

(KALB) - If you’re a parent or guardian of young children, you know that feeling when you just need to sit down, relax and have a cup of coffee while the kids play!While there aren’t many options for parents here in Cenla, Light of Mine Playhouse Cafe is looking to change that by bringing the coffee shop feel for adults to Montessori-style playtime for kids. Co-owners Christelle Carley and Eden Etienne developed the idea for Light of Mine back in August 2023.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Movement Lab hosted the “Tap Jam” on Saturday, April 27, at Tamp and Grind in Alexandria, offering a safe place for dancers to collaborate. The event was also a fundraiser. Money was collected to help send a teen dancer to the Soul 2 Sole Tap Festival this summer.
