Big changes are coming to Dungeons & Dragons in 2025. The game synonymous with role playing games turned 50 last year, and Hasbro is invigorating as it heads into its next 50 years. First off is the Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set, which is seeing a major overhaul, possibly the biggest overhaul in the set’s existence. The D&D Starter Set has long been Hasbro’s way of trying to hook new players who may not frequent game stores.

Bandai had a huge presence at Toy Fair 2025, just like they did at the last Toy Fair in 2023. They had so much product on display, spanning many lines: Gundam, Godzilla, Jaws, Tamagotchi, Dragon Ball Z and more. The Bandai staff was kind enough to give us a private tour of the booth, showing off products coming to store shelves later this year, and some coming our way in 2026. This year’s Chinese New Year marked the year of the snake, so it seems fitting that it this year we are getting not one, but two representations of Cold Slither in action figure form! For those of you who didn’t rush home from school every weekday morning in the 80s to watch G.I. Joe, Cold Slither is hair metal band consisting of the Cobra affiliated Dreadnok mercenary group. Was there a company other than Bandai with a bigger footprint on the New York Comic Con 2024 show floor? I don’t think there was. Bandai had a massive presence at NYCC ’24, with its various subsidiaries taking over not just aisles, but blocks of the show floor. The section of the floor closest to the main entrance was basically Bandai City.
